Bill-signing opens doors to opportunity

On Tuesday, Gov. Bill Ritter will sign bills to help workers receive timely unemployment benefits and aid homeowners facing foreclosure, along with others bills that will provide relief for Coloradans struggling during this economic downturn.

In conjunction with the bill-signing, state agencies and non-profit groups will offer a "Help for Working Families Fair" from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Capitol.

Counselors and other experts will advise people and direct them to resources and help for finances, mortgages, unemployment insurance, health care, housing, utility assistance and home weatherization. Agencies participating include the Colorado Department of Labor, Colorado Department of Health Care Financing, Colorado Foreclosure Hotline, Colorado Nonprofit Association and the Governor's Energy Office.
