Guest worker pitfalls: Expecting workers to go home unrealistic
"For a guest-worker program to really work, however, it must offer a well-defined option for guest workers to seek legal permanent residency or citizenship. It's unrealistic to think that most guest workers would return to their home countries after their terms were up."

Federal immigration policy is fundamentally out of sync with the economy. Our laws say "stay out," while our economy says "come on in." Until we correct that inconsistency, no amount of enforcement will truly solve the problem.

Don't blame high health costs on immigrants
In fact, immigrants — legal and undocumented — use less subsidized health care than U.S. citizens, and the only subsidized health care available to undocumented immigrants is for emergency treatment. Immigrants are not driving up the costs of health care. It's the growing number of uninsured citizens relying on emergency medical and charity care.
